The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi, is sponsoring a 2-week Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on Research Methodology and Quality Publications for Young Faculty Members in Social Science, organized by the Department of Management at the School of Commerce and Management, Central University of Rajasthan, taking place from March 4th to March 16th, 2024.

About the Capacity Building Programme (CBP)

The capacity building programs (CBPs) on research methodology can be immensely helpful for new faculty members and researchers in several ways as it consists of both theoretical and practical components, with participants given hands-on experience in conducting research studies using different methods. Furthermore, the participants will have the opportunity to interact with experienced researchers and learn from their experiences.

Learning Outcome of the CBP

Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of research and its role in the decision-making process.
Participants will be able to design valid research projects to address specific research questions.
Participants will be able to design reliable and valid questionnaires for data collection.
Participants will become familiar with univariate, bivariate, and multivariate statistical techniques.
Participants will be able to use descriptive and predictive statistical tools, including robust analytical software such as SPSS, SEM, AMOS, R, and E-Views.
Participants will gain a better understanding of academic writing, including research papers, books, articles, and other forms of scholarly writing.

Duration of the Programme

The Capacity Building Programme has been scheduled for two weeks starting from 4th March,2024 to 16th March, 2024. Evaluation of the participants’ learnings The Learning of the participants shall be evaluated on various learning components and Consequently, the gradings will be awarded accordingly.

Eligibility for the Participants

The Capacity Building Programme is intended for young faculty members (Lecturer/Assistant Professor in social science) working in Indian Universities/Deemed to be Universities/Colleges/institutions of national importance/ ICSSR research Institutes recognized by UGC, New Delhi.

Registration Fee

The CBP is fully sponsored by ICSSR, New Delhi, hence, no fee is charged from the participants.

Number of Seats

The number of seats is limited to a maximum of 30 (10 from outside the Rajasthan, 10 from within Rajasthan, and 10 from Central University of Rajasthan).
The travel tickets by the shortest route will be reimbursed for outstation participants only as per the guidelines of ICSSR and availability of funds.
Free boarding and lodging facilities will be provided to outstation participants for the duration of the programme along with the course material.
Lunch and tea/snacks will be provided to all participants

How to Register?

Interested faculty members can register for this capacity building programme by submitting the scanned copy of filled-in registration form duly signed by the head of the institution on or before 16th February, 2024 using the given link.

Eligibility:

The candidate must fill out the attached form and submit it to the office of DSTCIMS. The workshop has no registration cost, and the maximum number of applicants is fixed at thirty. Hundred percent attendance is compulsory in the workshop to secure a participation certificate. Therefore participants are requested to take proper leave from their regular duty. Deadline of registration is January 27, 2024 till 05:00 PM.

Accommodation and Food

This program will be organized for local participants. Therefore, the organizers will not provide accommodation and food to participants. Only tea and snacks will be provided in the short breaks.

About the Capacity Building Programme (CBP)

The two weeks Capacity Building Program (CBP) is being organised on the broad theme of “Understanding Project Management Practices from Social Science Research Perspectives” at RPCAU, Pusa, Bihar during January 4-15, 2024. The programme is fully sponsored by Indian Council of Social Science Research, New Delhi. Accommodation & Travel

Accommodation will be provided on twin sharing basis. Travel expenses will be given only to outstation participants.

Outstation participants will be provided travel assistance up to AC III Tier fare by the shortest route (No booking shall be done on Rajdhani/Shatabdi or Duronto Trains). Reimbursement will be made only on submission of original tickets.

ABOUT CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME
The Central University of Punjab, Bathinda proposes to organise a two-week Capacity Building Programme (CBP) on Research Methodology for young faculty in Social Sciences for the benefit of university, college teachers as well as faculty from social science research institutes from 19th to 30th January 2024 (12 working days). This CBP, equivalent to a Refresher Course, aims to empower faculty members in social sciences to pursue
research in their area of interest. Social science research, as we all know, is very dynamic and constantly reshaping our understanding of the world with new facts, interpretations and approaches. In it, the methodology of research plays a crucial role in building a repository of systematic knowledge which can be used for the benefit of the society at large. Research Methodology itself is a sort of a guiding manual or training for social scientists to conduct research using appropriate tools and processes to navigate the complex social landscape and arrive at
logical and verifiable conclusions. This CBP will focus on the recent discourses on the philosophical foundations, skillful use of research methodologies and art of transformation of findings into academic publications. In short, this CBP would help young academicians to grasp the nuances of vast spectrum of the interdisciplinary academic research. This programme for faculty members in social sciences has been conceptualised as a comprehensive tool to address issues related to quality of research and teaching, policy formulation, institution building and so on. It calls for the establishment of conditions that allows individuals to be engaged in the process of collective learning and sharing of knowledge. The major goal of the CBP is to promote and emphasise on various theoretical and methodological issues and usages of research tools and techniques by the faculty members for conducting high quality and ethical research, which would facilitate improving the vitality of higher educational and research institutes and their excellence.

Objectives of the Programme
The aim of this programme is to give an exposure to the young faculty members in social science disciplines to the latest research trends and developments in their respective field and to enhance their capacity for high quality research and publications. The core objective of the programme would be to enable young faculties to conduct their research work in scientific and systematic manner and to turn their completed research into published materials in the form of books and articles in academic journals. Specifically, the objectives are to:
❖ Develop critical thought process, conceptualisation, meaning and approaches to research.
❖ Enhance theoretical and methodological understanding along with quantitative and qualitative research methods in social science research;
❖ Enhance skills for preparing an appropriate research design, including conducting an overview of literature, formulating research questions and hypotheses, collection of information and analysis;
❖ Develop understanding of statistical tools, data handling and analysis;
❖ Enhance research publication skills;
❖ Capacity building for writing research grant applications; and,
❖ Guide participants for collaborative and multidisciplinary research in the areas of social science and allied disciplines.

Programme Outline
The programme has been designed to be conducted offline in a modular format with a special emphasis on interactive sessions, exercises and discussions on sample research proposals/papers prepared by the participants during the training. The broad overviews of the course are:
1. Fundamentals and meaning of research with focus on ontology, epistemology and methodology of doing social research.
2. Idea and approaches of research – nature, scope and theories; tenets of qualitative and quantitative research.
3. Research Design, usage of various tools and techniques, methods and processes of qualitative and quantitative data collection;
4. Application of statistical software for data processing and analysis;
5. Ethics in Social Science research;
6. Emerging trends and tenets of academic writing and publications.
7. Preparation of research proposal and avenues of funding opportunities

Duration of the Course: Two Weeks (12 working days).

Number of Seats: Total 30 seats for participants (10 local, 10 from the state and 10 from outside state).

Application and Selection Criteria: This programme/course is intended to provide opportunity to young faculty members (not below the level of Assistant Professor) of any UGC recognised University/College/ Institution (including ICSSR research institutes and reputed Social Science research institution engaged research) engaged in Social Science research. Selection criteria as laid down by the ICSSR shall be followed.

Fee: This CBP is sponsored by the ICSSR, New Delhi and therefore, NO FEE shall be charged from the participants for attending the programme.

Travel & Accommodation: The selected participants will be reimbursed travel fare (Three tier AC train/shared taxi/bus) as per the ICSSR norms and availability of funds. Accommodation to outstation participants will be provided at free of cost at the CUP Bathinda guest house.

Certification: Participants will be issued certificates upon successful completion of the programme

About the Programme

Indian traditional culture is known to have held teachers as highly respected and assigned education a high status but for some decades eroded values have changed the scenario. There is a strong need to restore the same high regard to the profession so as to inspire the best possible
future for our children and our nation. The most important factor in the success of higher education institutions is the quality and engagement of its faculty (NEP 2020). The NEP 2020 has recommended radical changes in the teaching learning process and the assessment system. The digital era demands a technologically competent teacher who can comfortably bring the advancements of technology in to the classrooms for better learning engagement and help the learner to compete with students from different nations. At the same time, the teachers need to improve their research potentialities for their own carrer progression as well as to attract improved institutional ranking and associated funding. Critical, relational, and reflective research in the frontiers of different academic domains with a strong footing in Indian culture and tradition is the need of the hour. In this context, a well-defined sequence of activities towards capacity building that contribute towards teaching, assessment, and research excellence across teachers of HEIs is offered by the Dept. of Education, Assam University targeting specifically the newly recruited teachers in the HEIs of India to fine tune their teaching, and research abilities.

About the Mining Engineering Programme
NLCIL in association with Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Annamalai University iS offering a Diploma in Mining Engineering Programme from 2016 onwards, An Mou was sined between the university and NLCIL to support the programme. As per the MoU a sum of 5.62 Crores was sanctioned by NLCIL for the construction of Mining Engineering Block and has also provided funds for developing laboratories and classrooms. The Programme iS approved by AICTE for an intake of 60 students, 30 are selected on merit basis, The remaining 30 students are allotted to project
affected students (PAP) filled by NLCIL.
