About the Capacity Building Programme (CBP)

The two weeks Capacity Building Program (CBP) is being organised on the broad theme of “Understanding Project Management Practices from Social Science Research Perspectives” at RPCAU, Pusa, Bihar during January 4-15, 2024. The programme is fully sponsored by Indian Council of Social Science Research, New Delhi. In the realm of social science research & Especially for grass root level work, Project Management plays crucial role akin to a guiding compass, steering practitioners towards successful outcome Social Scientists employee a range of methods in order to analyze a vast breadth of social phenomena. Research in social science is long, slow & difficult process that some times produces false result because of methodological weaknesses. Keeping this in mind this CBP will focus on project management tools & techniques for identifying, formulating, implementing & evaluating social science research projects.

Objectives

  1. To provide background information and tools to guide project identification and formulation.
  2. To emphasize the importance of project designing.
  3. To explain how sound choice can be guided by using tools such as Log frame analysis in social science research.
  4. To demonstrate how project elements can be clearly specified and risks assessed and reduced.
  5. To set out how to link logical project design to work planning and budgeting
  6. To enable the social scientists to solve a prioritised problem addressing a social issue formulating a winning proposal.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Participants are expected to be a Lecturer/ Assistant Professor in a UGC recognized Indian university / deemed university / College / institutes of national importance and ICSSR Research Institutes. KVK Scientists in the cadre of Subject Matter Specialists are also eligible to apply

Note

Selection of the participants will be made as per the ICSSR guidelines. No leave of any kind is permissible during the course. Attendance in all the sessions is compulsory. Personal laptop to be carried during the CBP.

Registration Fees

There is no registration fees for the selected participants.

Accommodation & Travel

Accommodation will be provided on twin sharing basis. Travel expenses will be given only to outstation participants.

Outstation participants will be provided travel assistance up to AC III Tier fare by the shortest route (No booking shall be done on Rajdhani/Shatabdi or Duronto Trains). Reimbursement will be made only on submission of original tickets.

How to Reach Pusa

Pusa is well connected to all nearby railway stations like Shaheed Khudi Ram Bose Pusa (4 Km), Samastipur (17 Km), Darbhanga (50 Km), Muzaffarur (35 Km) and Patna (75 Km) via rail and road transport. The nearest airports are Darbhanga airport (45 Km) and Patna airport (100 Km).

How to apply

Interested participants can fill the form given in the brochure and send us the filled form duly signed by head of the institution. Original hard copy of the form will be submitted at the time of the programme.
