ICSSR Sponsored Capacity Building Programme for Young Social Science Faculty on Outcome-Based Education System Under New Education Policy-2020
ICSSR Sponsored Capacity Building Programme for Young Social Science Faculty on Outcome-Based Education System Under New Education Policy-2020 hosted by INSTITUTE OF PUBLIC ENTERPRISE
Introduction
The National Education Policy of India 2020 (NEP 2020), approved by the Union Cabinet of India on 29 July 2020, outlines the vision of the new education system of India. It replaces the previous National Policy on Education, 1986. The vision of the policy is to build an education system rooted in Indian ethos that contributes directly to transforming India by providing high-quality education to all, thereby making India a global knowledge superpower. The policy aims to transform India’s education system by 2030.
With NEP 2020, there has been a marked paradigm shift from the knowledge-based approach to the skill-based approach in the Indian Higher Education Sector in a transformative move to reskill our youth and build future competencies.
Outcome-Based Education (OBE) is a student-centric teaching and learning methodology in which the course delivery and assessment are planned to achieve stated objectives and outcomes. It focuses on measuring student performance i.e., outcomes at different levels. The key to success in outcome-based education is clarity, for both teachers and students to understand what’s expected of them. As our colleges and universities slowly transition to this new system to align with NEP goals, they must find intelligent and efficient ways of integrating it and benefiting student employability.
The program covers a gamut of themes with a focus on Outcome-Based Education and the faculty members are enabled with modern concepts, tools, and methodologies of teaching and can gain a deep understanding of learning taxonomies like Bloom’s and learn to apply them effectively in the teaching practice. The program aims to impart practical skills and guidance to improve the quality of teaching, curriculum development, and assessments, achieve high-quality learning outcomes and the principles of quality assurance in education, including teachers-students communication, curriculum design, assessments, and more.
