About the Workshop
Pre-post study designs using binary outcomes—such as Yes/No, Correct/Incorrect, or Improved/Not Improved—are fundamental in public health and social science research. However, these studies are often misanalyzed and poorly reported, leading to rejected manuscripts and missed publication opportunities.
This two-day online certificate workshop is designed to bridge that gap. It will empower researchers to move beyond basic descriptive statistics and transform raw binary data into statistically robust, publication-ready evidence that meets the standards of Scopus-indexed journals.
Who Should Attend?
- Faculty members, PhD scholars, and postgraduate/undergraduate students
- Early-career researchers in public health, social sciences, psychology, and education
- Professionals involved in intervention studies, program evaluation, or data analysis
- Anyone looking to enhance their analytical skills for high-impact publications
What You Will Learn
Participants will gain hands-on experience in:
- Preparing raw pre-post binary data for analysis
- Creating item-level, domain-level, and total scores
- Selecting and justifying appropriate non-parametric statistical tests
- Conducting within-group and between-group comparisons
- Computing gain scores and confidence intervals
- Performing item-wise pre-post analysis
- Calculating and interpreting effect sizes
- Developing publication-quality tables and figures
- Writing clear, concise methods and results sections for Scopus-ready manuscripts
Workshop Schedule
Day 1: Conceptual Foundations & Data Requirements
- Theory-focused sessions on decision logic, study design, and manuscript expectations.
Day 2: Hands-On Practical Session in R
- Applied data analysis, interpretation, visualization, and reporting using RStudio.
No prior experience in R is required.
Certification
Participants who attend both days of the workshop will receive an e-certificate of participation.
