Objective

With the increasing complexity and environmental impact of modern communication systems, there is a growing demand for fast, energy-efficient, and sustainable technologies. Optical Wireless Communication (OWC) presents a promising solution, offering high-speed, energy-efficient data transmission for various industries. This FDP aims to familiarize faculty and research scholars with the latest advancements in OWC technology, emphasizing both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

    • FSO Communication Signal Propagation through Atmospheric Channels
    • Hands-on Simulation of Free-Space Optics Communication
  2. Optical Networks and Turbulence Effects
    • Study of atmospheric turbulence on OWC links
  3. Diversity Techniques: MIMO in OWC
    • MIMO Technology using LED Arrays and Fly-Eye Receivers
    • Indoor Positioning Methods using VLC
  4. Reconfigurable Optical Intelligent Surfaces
    • Aided communication systems and OWC for space-air-ground integration
    • Indoor VLC simulations using LED communication systems
  5. Energy-Efficient OWC Systems
    • Visible Light Communication for Next-Gen Communication
    • Energy transfer, harvesting, and savings in OWC systems
  6. Research Challenges in FSO Systems
    • IoT/IoE, 6G, THz spectrum, and quantum communication integration

Eligibility

Faculty members, research scholars, and postgraduate students from AICTE-approved institutions and industry professionals within a 100km radius of SSMIET, Dindigul, are eligible. Prior successful completion of AICTE ATAL FDPs is preferred.

  2. Fill General Details in the ATAL Portal
  3. Upload your ID card & NOC/ Registration form (PDF)
  4. Then click FDPs
  5. Click on ‘’FDPs’’, select type “ATAL”, select “December” under month, select Thrust Area as “Thrust Areas”, select FDP type, ‘Technical’, select field thrust area as “ATAL-Core and Emerging Area”. Scroll on the webpage and identify the FDP named “Advancing Green Communication: Research Perspectives in Sustainable Optical Wireless Technology” (application no 1715676613) from 9th – 14th December, 2024.
